Orthodox shrines are meant for prayer, emphasizes the human rights advocate.

On July 17, 2024, a new lawsuit was filed in the interests of the Holy Dormition Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra. This was reported by the monastery's lawyer, Archpriest Nikita Chekman, on his Telegram channel.

"A productive work by the team of lawyers, the collection of evidence, and as a result – a lawsuit with 1600 pages of attachments. Orthodox shrines are meant for prayer and should belong to the Church!" wrote Archpriest Nikita.

As the UOJ previously reported, the court session on the Upper Lavra case in Kyiv was postponed to August 5. The session concerning the rights of the brethren to serve in the Upper Lavra was supposed to take place in the Northern Appellate Commercial Court of Kyiv on July 15.
