On July 7, 2024, during the Pope's visit to the Italian city of Trieste, women volunteers "communed" Roman Catholic believers.
Pope Francis attended the Mass, which was led by 68-year-old Cardinal Matteo Zuppi of the Roman Catholic Church.
There were also many non-serving priests and bishops of the Roman Catholic Church at the Mass; however, despite this, the laity at the end of the service were "communed" by women volunteers.
Previously, the UOJ reported that Catholics in the USA held an LGBT Mass on plastic boxes instead of an altar.
