Metropolitan Chrysostomos of Patras reminded the government to address the issues that really concern the people – poverty, unemployment and demographics.

Metropolitan Chrysostomos of Patras has criticised the same-sex marriage bill, saying that the Greek authorities intend to pass it at the behest of the foreign gay lobby.

During a sermon at the Church of St. Gregory the Theologian, Metropolitan Chrysostomos noted that the Greek authorities "legislate in the absence of the people, against morals and traditional values, against the tradition of our Fatherland, at the behest of foreign centres and the now known "lobbies".

He reminded the authorities that they are obliged to deal with the problems that really concern the people - "unemployment, poverty, low birth rate, demography, which is the biggest problem of the country".

Vladyka also wished the authorities to care more about "practical, institutional, insurance, housing and work support for a healthy family".

As earlier reported, the Greek Church opposed of the same-sex marriage legalisation.
