Details of fatal accident involving a Phanar cleric published on the Web

On September 14, 2022, new information appeared about the road incident involving Alexander Efremenko, a clergyman of St. Andrew's church and subdeacon of Exarch Phanar in Kyiv. The information was published in the Facebook group "For the Ukrainian Church".

“On May 5, 2022, around 21:28 on the highway Kyiv - Odessa 22 km, in the direction of Kyiv, a driver, very similar to Alexander Efremenko (Chevrolet Epica car), hit a bump stop, as a result of which two passengers, viz. Volodymyr and Ruslana Volochay, died on the spot from their injuries. The third passenger was hospitalized in the Kyiv regional hospital with numerous injuries. Alcohol at 0.77 ppm with an allowable 0.2 was found in the driver's blood. The URPTI registered criminal proceedings under Art. 286, P. 3,” the circumstances of the tragedy were recalled in the message.

According to the authors of the publication, "the man who killed two people and who then justified himself on camera that he had an ‘amnesty’, playing a fool at the scene, as if he did not understand anything, is extremely similar to Alexander Efremenko, the propagandist of the OCU, the editor of the OCU Internet garbage dump ‘Spiritual Front’, and Personal Secretary of the Phanar Exarch Mikhail Anishchenko. This figure is also close to Metropolitan Epifaniy Dumenko.” The message also mentions the participation of Efremenko in corruption structures, in particular, in the Chaplaincy Development Fund.

The publication noted that Efremenko "is a deacon in the stauropegion of the Patriarchate of Constantinople, serves with the Exarch in St. Andrew's church," and "even after this event, he is at large and calmly positions himself as a great church actor." The authors reported that now, according to rumors, law enforcement officers are trying to hush up the case at the request of the head of the OCU, Epifaniy Dumenko, and Exarch Mikhail (Anishchenko).

The publication also stated that in the near future the UOC-KP would send a letter to Patriarch Bartholomew with an inquiry if he knows that the cleric of his stauropegion “is hiding behind the patriarch's name in Kyiv in order to avoid responsibility for the murder of two people, all the more in a state of intoxication.”

As the UOJ wrote, the Phanar cleric in Ukraine is accused of manslaughter.
