ROC again postpones Bishops' Council

On August 25, 2022, the Holy Synod of the ROC met in Moscow and acknowledged that due to the complicated international situation the holding of the Council of Bishops of the Russian Orthodox Church could not be possible and decided to discuss the terms again by the end of 2022, reports patriarchia.ru.

Back on April 17, 2022, the Holy Synod postponed the dates of the Council of Bishops until the autumn or winter of 2022 "due to the fact that the international situation makes it difficult for many members of the Council of Bishops to come to Moscow" and decided to "have a judgment on the dates of the Council of Bishops at the summer session of the Holy Synod".

Following discussions on 25 August, the Synod decided once again to return to discussing the dates before the end of 2022. "Since the international situation continues to make it difficult for many members of the Council of Bishops to come to Moscow, to postpone its holding to a date to be determined in good time, returning to this matter interim no later than the meeting of the Holy Synod in December of this year," the meeting of the Holy Synod ruled.

As reported, the Russian Orthodox Church has recognised the Macedonian Church.
