32,000 Hasidic pilgrims arrive in Uman

As of October 2, at the start of Rosh Hashanah, there are approximately 32,000 Hasidic pilgrims from Israel in Uman, according to the United Jewish Community of Ukraine's Telegram channel.

The celebration of the Jewish New Year (Rosh Hashanah) will begin this evening, October 2, and will last until the evening of October 4.

Each pilgrim in Uman undergoes thorough screening. There are checkpoints with introscopes, scanners, and special metal detector gates at three entrances to the pilgrimage area.

Public safety and order in Uman are being monitored by police, National Guard servicemen, State Emergency Service rescuers, the Ministry of Internal Affairs' medical service, and other services. Ukrainian police are working alongside 16 Israeli colleagues.

The police will maintain order until the end of Shabbat, which will follow immediately after Rosh Hashanah.

Today, more than 10,000 Breslov Hasidim participated in the mass prayer of Tikkun HaKlali.

Tikkun HaKlali (literally translated as "General Rectification") is a mass prayer during which a collection of ten psalms of King David is read, serving as a form of teshuva (repentance) for all sins.

As previously reported by the UOJ, Israeli police arrived in Uman to assist in maintaining order.
